The Tour By Car

Driving is the most popular way to experience Grimsel and Furka Pass. The well-maintained road offers a smooth and scenic journey, with plenty of pull-offs for photo opportunities and exploration. From Zurich, the drive to Grimsel Pass takes approximately 2.5 hours. Follow signs for the A2 motorway towards Lucerne, then switch to the A8 towards Interlaken and finally the Route 6 to Innertkirchen.

Departure from Zurich or Zug

Our journey begins in Zurich, the vibrant financial hub of Switzerland. After a hearty breakfast in one of Zurich’s many charming cafes, set your GPS to Sarnen and hit the road.


Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) - Alpnachersee Side

Our first major sight is the picturesque Lake Lucerne, specifically the Alpnachersee side. As you drive along the shores, the shimmering waters and surrounding mountains create a postcard-perfect scene. Take a moment to stop, breathe in the fresh air, and snap some photos.


Stunning Lake- Sarnersee

Continuing on, we arrive Sarnersee. This lesser-known gem is ideal for a peaceful break. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the shores or a quick dip if the weather permits. The tranquil surroundings and crystal-clear waters are a nature lover’s dream.


Hint: To visit the Bio Familia Company Store, avoid the tunnel in Sachseln and take the local road to bio-familia AG, Brünigstrasse 141, 6072 Sachseln. They produce some of the best organic cornflakes for many countries, and you'll also find roasted seeds and fruits there. to buy.


Discovering the Serenity of Lungernsee


Lungernsee, nestled in the picturesque Obwalden region of Switzerland, is a place of rare beauty where the alpine landscape meets the crystal-clear waters of the lake. Its deep, clear blue color mirrors the clear sky and surrounding mountains, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity.


On the shores of this lake, the quiet is broken only by the sounds of nature. During the summer, hundreds of tiny frogs that have just emerged from tadpoles bring the landscape to life, hopping cheerfully along the banks. Brünig Pass and Viewpoint

Next, we climb the Brünig Pass, a historic mountain pass that offers panoramic views of the Swiss Alps. Make sure to stop at the viewpoint to fully appreciate the sweeping vistas.


Ballenberg Village Museum

Descending from the pass, we reach the Ballenberg Village Museum. This open-air museum showcases traditional Swiss buildings and offers a glimpse into rural life in Switzerland. Wander through the beautifully preserved homes and workshops, and perhaps enjoy a coffee at the museum cafe.


Brienz and Lake Brienz

Our next stop is the charming town of Brienz, located on the shores of Lake Brienz. This turquoise lake is one of Switzerland’s most beautiful, and a break here is a must. Stroll along the promenade, relax by the water’s edge, or take a boat ride to see the lake from a different perspective.


Meiringen and Reichenbach Falls

From Brienz, head towards Meiringen, famous for its association with Sherlock Holmes and the stunning Reichenbach Falls. A short hike will take you to the falls, where you can enjoy the thundering cascade and the surrounding natural beauty.


Military Landing Strip - Flugplatzkommando Meiringen


As you continue your journey, you’ll cross a unique landmark: the military landing strip near Meiringen. Set your GPS to Flugplatzkommando Meiringen, 3857 Unterbach, Personalrestaurant + Fliegertreff. Here, you’ll see a sign instructing you to give priority to planes—a fascinating sight! Don’t miss the opportunity to take a photo under the military plane for a truly unique memory.





 

Aare Gorge (Aareschlucht)

Aare Gorge, located near Meiringen in the Bernese Oberland, is a stunning natural wonder where the Aare River has carved a deep, narrow canyon through limestone cliffs. This dramatic landscape offers visitors an unforgettable experience as they walk along the well-maintained pathways and tunnels that hug the sheer rock walls.






Next, head to the Aare Gorge. Enter through the West Entrance and walk the path through this dramatic limestone canyon. The sheer cliffs and rushing waters create an awe-inspiring experience. Exit at the East and take the train back for a short but memorable ride.
