Guarda Val Hotel Lenzerheide

Guarda Val - Maiensäss  Hotel: A Swiss winner as the best winter hotel, this 4-Star Haven in Val Sporz just outside of Lenzerheide, Guardaval stands as a beacon of elegance and comfort, offering a luxurious 4-star retreat for travellers seeking an unforgettable alpine experience. Guarda Val Hotel Lenzerheide

Forget cookie-cutter hotels. The Guarda Val boasts 11 Maiensäss lodges, rustic wooden wonders that look like they were built by Swiss gnomes. These lodges are so old, that they probably witnessed the invention of fondue. Here, the lines between indoors and outdoors blur, meaning you might find a cow in your living room or wake up to a mountain goat as your new best friend.

Note: Maiensäss refers to a traditional Swiss alpine pasture and settlement typically used during the summer months. Originating from the word "Mai" (May), it describes the seasonal movement of livestock to higher altitudes for grazing when the lower valleys become too warm. These alpine pastures are usually situated between the valley villages and the higher alpine meadows.
